Get Clear Skin With This Little Known Cleansing Method

All skin types – dry skin, normal skin, oily skin and acne-prone, can be balanced by using a personalized combination of safe and natural oils as a daily face cleanser.

Many commercial soaps used to wash the face are thought to strip the skin of natural oils, causing the skin to over-produce natural oils to compensate. One clear skin tip is to use the Oil Cleansing Method, a natural way to use oil to dissolve the excess dirt and oils on the face without over-drying the skin.

Oil dissolves oil, so the dirty oil is replaced with healthy, moisturizing natural oils, resulting in clear skin that is soft, even in tone and free of acne. The trick to using the oil cleansing method is to find the best balance of oils depending on the skin type.

How to Do the Oil Cleansing Method

The first step is to pick out the oils. Traditionally, castor oil is mixed with a moisturizing oil. Castor oil is used for healing and cleansing the skin, and drawing out impurities. Since it can dry out the skin, it is important to mix the castor oil with another oil that will moisturize the skin

The most commonly used oil to accompany the castor oil is extra virgin olive oil. Be sure to use quality olive oil that is extra virgin. Other popular oils to use include jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, evening primrose oil, coconut oil and hazelnut oil. Most of these oils can be purchased a natural food stores or grocery stores.

Generally castor and jojoba oils will be found another beauty products, although castor oil may be found among laxatives. Most of the other oils can be found in the grocery aisles.

Depending on the skin type, adjust the balance of castor oil to the other oil. Start with a 50/50 mix and see how the skin responds. For oily skin, use more castor oil and for dry skin, use more of the moisturizing oil. The trick is to make a small batch to start with, and adjust as needed. Small travel-sized squeeze bottles are good for mixing and storing the oils.

Additionally, other oils can be added in small amounts. For acne-prone skin, add a few drops of tea tree oil. Vitamin E oil is good to add to even out the skin tone and fight wrinkles.

Use the Oils as a Face Wash

Once the oils are mixed, its time to use it as a face wash. Make sure the hair is pulled back tightly from the face to avoid getting oil in the hair.

Rub the oil mixture directly onto the face. No need to wet the face in advance. Once, the mixture is on the face, steam the skin by draping a washcloth soaked in hot water over the face. The water should be hot, but not any hotter than can be tolerated.

Leave the washcloth on the face and let it steam, until the washcloth cools. Then, use the washcloth to wipe the oil off the face. Once all the oil has been wiped from the face, rinse with cool water and pat dry.

Other Considerations

If a toner is needed, consider making a natural toner by diluting apple cider vinegar in a mixture of 1 part vinegar, 9 parts water. Splash on the face after completing the oil cleansing method.

For an all-natural and highly effective moisturizer, use a bit of Vitamin E oil on the face. This will help balance skin tone and smooth wrinkles. It can be sticky, so use sparingly.

Also, small amounts of oil left around the eye area can lead to runny eye make-up. One way to avoid this is to do the oil cleansing method in the evening before bed, and use a different all-natural facial cleansing in the morning to completely remove oil from the face before applying make-up.

After a few days of using the oil cleansing method, the overall appearance of skin should improve, including skin tone and clarity.
